Manual Photography
For many years, I used standard modern cameras with automatic modes. It is comfortable and accurate, but the sensation was pretty sterile. Some years ago I discovered manual lens photography, and began to use old manual full frame lenses on a modern camera body. It has made me the photograph I am today.
Shooting with manual lens makes you feel the picture, almost be in fusion with it. It is also the best school to understand all that is behind a photo, and how precisely a camera and a lens works.
Today I use mostly manual lenses, from the wide angle 20mm, to the super telephoto 500mm. My lenses are not perfect, they all have their advantages and defaults. But I have my typical identity, because I use a certain range of device.
I recommend for every beginners in photography to try some old manual lenses mounted on mirrorless or DSLR cameras.
It provides great sensations, and allows a rebirth of these lenses which were originally manufactured for argentic photography. You’ll discover unexpected potential using then in combination with modern cameras.
